
This is the second (1996) edition of the directory which is being sent to all UK GPs, it details:
Patients will be able to access the Directory by asking their GP or via the NHS Information Service
- the staff in the breast cancer team, how they work together and how many new patients they see each year (to meet the latest DOH guidelines, units should be seeing at least 100 new breast cancer patients per annum to be specialists)
- whether they offer triple assessment (clinical examination, breast x-ray and microscopic examination of tissue) at first visit or how long patients have to wait for test results
- what technology and back up facilities are available for diagnosis, treatment and care.
