Bristol Breast Cancer Campaign members have decided to terminate the group. The departure of some members combined with the creation of the UK Breast Cancer Coalition (which the BBCC decided to join) meant that we felt that it would be difficult for us to continue to operate independently. We hope that the Coalition's representative for the South-West region will take over the organisation of activities, such as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month events in October, in Bristol. We wish her and the Coalition all the best in their future activities. As a parting gesture we wanted to leave a lasting and useful reminder of our activities in Bristol and decided to invest the remainder of our funds in what we hope will be a practical resource to women in Bristol for many years : a donation to the Bristol libraries of books on subjects related to Breast Cancer. Over 50 books have been selected, raging from testimonials written by women with breast cancer, to medical books and general volumes on dealing with illness and breast care. These include :
- How to reduce your risk of breast cancer
- Breast cancer: a family survival guide
- Living beyond breast cancer
- Tamoxifen and breast cancer
- The truth about breast implants
- Choices in healing
- Preventing breast cancer : the politics of an epidemic by Cathy Reed
- The Cancer Journals by Audre Lorde
